Australia 2002: Commodore in command

Holden Commodore

Solid car market in Australia this year with 803,991 units sold. The Holden Commodore sees its sales boosted by the arrival of the new VY generation in September and reaches no less than 11% of the Australian market with 88,478 sales, its second best ever volume and +4% on 2001. The Ford Falcon, also renewed this year with the BA generation, is a distant 2nd at 54,629 sales and 6.8%.

The Toyota Corolla takes the last spot on the podium with 34,948 sales and 4.3%, whereas the Toyota Camry, Holden Astra and Mitsubishi Magna/Verada are also doing very well. Full Year 2002 Top 35 below.
