India 2006-2007: Maruti Alto first car to pass 200k yearly volume

The Maruti Alto continues to dominate the Indian car market, becoming the first car to sell more than 200,000 units over a Fiscal Year with 223,835 units changing hands between April 2006 and March 2007.

The podium is unchanged, with the Hyundai Santro taking 2nd spot at just over 150,000 sales and the Tata Indica coming 3rd with 144,690 sales. Four Marutis follow: the Wagon R, Omni, 800 and Swift.
