South Africa 2006-2007: VW Polo takes the lead

In 2006, the VW Polo passes the Toyota Corolla to become South Africa’s best selling vehicle with 41,153 units sold (+25%). It keeps its title in 2007, finishing #1 in February, May, June, July & August when it delivered its highest 2007 monthly volume at 3,992. The Toyota Corolla should be #2 in both years, ranking first in January, September & October 2007.

Replacing the Toyota Tazz, the Yaris is gearing up throughout 2007 to reach the #1 spot overall in December with 3,357 sales. The VW CitiGolf is still very solid, grabbing the 3rd place in September. The Toyota Hilux is the best selling commercial vehicle, even obtaining the #1 place in the overall ranking in April and November.
