Japan February 2011: Prius back to #1, Nissan Leaf in Top 30

It’s a good month for ‘green’ cars in Japan: the Toyota Prius climbs back to the top of the ranking with 19,110 sales, and the all-electric Nissan Leaf makes its entry in the Top 30 at #25 with 2,593 sales, up from 981 in January.

Leader last month, the Honda Fit is now #2 with a still very strong 16,876 sales (+21% year-on-year), just ahead of the new gen Toyota Vitz (aka Yaris), up 50% at 16,484 units sold. The Nissan Serena is very solid this month at #4 (+16%) and the new gen Toyota Ractis continues to do well at #6 (+45%). Other newbies the Suzuki Solio is 15th and the Nissan Juke is 20th.

    That’s a fantastic result of the Nissan Leaf! The Leaf was 39th in January, where have you found this information?
    Not a great sign that the Suzuki Swift is selling worse than the old generation a year ago, maybe because of internal competition with the Solio. Next month an entry in the list of it’s sibling Mitsubishi Delica D:2?

      Hi DC, the 39th position is my estimation based on its 981 sales.
