New Zealand March 2011: Toyota Hilux and Corolla on top

The New Zealand car market is up 18% at 8,260 registrations in March. The Toyota Hilux grabs the top spot with an impressive 514 sales and 6.2% share, ahead of the Toyota Corolla at 355 units (4.3%) and the Suzuki Swift at 307 sales (3.7%). The Nissan Navara and Toyota Yaris follow.

New Zealand February 2011: Suzuki Swift takes the lead

In a market up a healthy 13% at 4,844 units, the Suzuki Swift grabs the pole position with 351 sales and 7.2% share, perhaps showing the effects of the new generation coming through dealerships already.

The Hyundai i30 is also very impressive in 2nd place at 310 sales and 6.4% share, whereas the Toyota Corolla (4.4%) and Holden Commodore (3.9%) are weaker than usual.

New Zealand January 2011: Corolla at 12%!

The New Zealand car market is up 16% in January at 7,523 registrations. Boosted by strong rental vehicles sales, the Toyota Corolla reigns with 903 sales and no less than 12% of the market, followed by the Holden Commodore at 380 sales (5%) and the Suzuki Swift at 265 units (3.5%).

New Zealand Full Year 2010: Corolla and Hilux dominate

The New Zealand market is very dynamic in 2010, up 14% at 80,453 units. The Toyota Corolla keeps the lead with 4,890 sales and 6.1% market share, ahead of the Hilux (4.3%), Suzuki Swift (3.4%) and Holden Commodore (3.2%).

New Zealand November 2010: Falcon passes Commodore, just

Car sales are up an outstanding 29% over last year this month in New Zealand with 7,376 registrations. The Toyota Corolla is #1 again by far with 658 sales and 8.9%, more than double the total of the #2, the Toyota Hilux at 275 (3.7%). The Suzuki Swift is 3rd with 268 sales (3.6%).

Whereas in Australia the battle between homegrowns Holden Commodore and Ford Falcon has been going the Holden way for more than a decade, in New Zealand the fight is a lot tighter and this month the Ford Falcon is ahead…by just one unit in 4th with 259 sales ahead of 258 Commodores.

New Zealand October 2010: Corolla at 12%!

The New Zealand car market is up 6% in October at 7,297 sales. Boosted by rental vehicles registrations (an October tradition in New Zealand), the Toyota Corolla is by far the top selling vehicle in New Zealand with 852 sales and no less than 11.7% of the market!

The Holden Commodore comes in #2 with 412 sales and 5.6%, followed by the Ford Falcon at 400 sales and 5.5%. As far as commercial vehicles are concerned, the Toyota Hilux leads with 216 units sold (3%) ahead of the Nissan Navara (2.5%) and the Toyota Hiace (1.9%).

New Zealand September 2010

Strong month for the New Zealand market with passenger car registrations up 13% at 6,298 units and commercial vehicles also up 13% at 1,646 sales.

The Toyota Corolla (the Auris name does not exist in Australia or New Zealand) is the best selling model by far with 631 registrations, ahead of the Toyota Camry (356) and the Ford Focus (280).
