No surprises in Thailand: the Toyota Hilux is the best-selling vehicle in the country with 144,190 sales, ahead of the Isuzu D-Max at 133,766. Both pick-ups add up to nearly 278,000 registrations, or around 35% of the total Thai car market!
The Toyota Vios is the best-selling passenger car at 67k units, followed by the Honda City at 49k units and the Toyota Corolla Altis at 38k. Being the world’s pick-up heaven, the Thai market had to have two more of those in the Top 10: the Nissan Frontier at #7 (23,844 sales) and the Mitsubishi Triton at #9 (20,344).

The Thai market is recovering from the crisis at full speed: the first 8 months 2010 are at +56% vs. ’09 at 488.088 registrations! The Top 4 is stable: Toyota Hilux (20%), Isuzu D-Max (15%), Toyota Vios (8%) and Honda City (6%) dominate the sales. The Corolla Altis regains the advantage on the Honda Civic in 5th.
Two models that recently kicked-off production in the country pop up in the ranking. The Mazda2 is #8 with 15,431 sales, including 7,404 sedans. The Nissan March new gen, whose first unit in the world came out of the Samut Prakan plant last March, is #12 with 9,527 sales (a monthly rate equivalent to a Top 10 position), the rest being shipped to Japan, SE Asia and Australia.

Mazda is the leading brand in Israel and the Mazda3 the best-selling car with no less than 12.3% of the market in 2009 at 21,269 sales, ahead of the Toyota Corolla at 7.1% and the Hyundai i30 at 4.9%.
The ranking by segment over the first 6 months 2010 indicates that the Mazda3 is still in the lead ahead of the Toyota Corolla, with the Chevrolet Cruze possibly taking 3rd place overall.
Mazda also dominates the minis segment with the Mazda2 ahead of the Hyundai i20 and the Suzuki Swift, and the large segment with the Mazda6 in the lead. The Hyundai Tucson is the best-selling 4WD/SUV.

2008 is the year when the fight between the Toyota Corolla and Holden Commodore turned to the advantage of the Corolla for the first time in New Zealand. Over the first 4 months of the year, the Corolla leads with 2,013 sales and 5.9% share, ahead of the Commodore at 1,719 sales and 5.1%.
The Corolla finishes the year above 6,600 units, 2,000 units above the Toyota Hilux (#2) and Holden Commodore (#3). Over the first 4 months 2008, the Mazda6 is up to 4th, the Ford Mondeo up to 6th, the Mazda2 up to 9th and the Suzuki SX4 up to 11th.

Austrian car sales stay stable over the period at 308,594 registrations in 2006 (+0.2%) and 298,192 in 2007 (-3%). Volkswagen monopolises the podium with the VW Golf #1 both years at 3.7% share in 2006 and 4.5% in 2007. It was #1 8 months out of 12 in 2006 and every month in 2007.
The VW Passat, boosted by the new generation launched in late 2005, grabs the 2nd spot in 2006 at 3.1% share (it was #1 in January 06) to then drop back to 3rd in 2007 at 2.7%. The VW Polo is #3 in 2006 at 2.9%, holding the top spot in August and October, and #2 in 2007 at 3%.
Below, the Skoda Fabia is #4 both years, even managing to lead the market in July 06, followed by the Opel Astra in 2006 then the Skoda Octavia in 2007. Notice the 10th spot of the Fiat Punto in 2006, helped by the new Grande Punto, and the arrival of the Peugeot 207 at #7 in 2007. Mazda places 4 models in the Top 25 in 2007: the Mazda 5 (#19), 3 (#23), 6 (#24) and 2 (#25)…
