China November 2010: Cruze #3 with best-ever 23,843 sales

Very strong sales figures this month in China, with each of the Top 3 cars delivering yearly bests. The VW Lavida is #1 for the second month in a row at 25,072 sales and 227,087 year-to-date (#2). The FAW Xiali N3/N5 continues its impressive progression and gains one more spot to finish #2 with 24,253 sales (#6 YTD).

The Chevrolet Cruze is this month’s best performer, for the first time in the Chinese Top 3 with best-ever 23,843 sales – first month above 20,000 units in China. The Cruze is 7th year-to-date with 171,717 registrations.

The BYD F3 seems to have stabilised around the 6th place, a far cry from its early 2010 performance. It however remains #1 YTD (237,354 sales) and should keep the Lavida at bay for the year-end results. Further down the ranking, the VW Bora, Toyota Corolla, Ford Focus, Chevrolet Sail, Honda City and VW Polo all deliver their best 2010 month.

Here is a quote with the Phaeton figure (also mentions Bentley and Lambo). Very interesting blog, thanks for your work.

“Volkswagen China Group announced today that it has delivered 1,476,200 cars from January to September to customers in mainland China, Hong Kong and Macau (Jan-Sept 2009: 1,062,000). Bentley sold 653 units and Lamborghini sold 179 units during that time, an increase of 96.6 percent and 113.0 percent respectively.

Sales volume of the Volkswagen brand amounted to 1,166,000 units, an increase of 33.8 percent, including 33,000 imported vehicles. This positive trend will be continued by the New Touareg, which will come to China shortly. The spectacular launch of the new Phaeton in the Forbidden City last month got a lot of attention in the Chinese media. With more than 2,227 deliveries in Mainland China in the first nine months, China is now the fastest growing market for the handcrafted flagship of Volkswagen.”

During the first 9 months of this year, about 2,300 Phaetons were sold in China. Such imports are not shown in the statistics.

Thanks Matt. It’s really strange that s-class, phaeton & co. can’t be found, maybe in the future.

    Hi Fnaeh,
Bizarrely, no. I couldn’t find these numbers anywhere.
The highest I have is the class just below that:

    1. Audi A6L: 9,358
    2. Mercedes E Class: 3,971
    3. BMW 5 Series: 3,300
    4. Toyota Crown: 2,924
    5. Volvo S80: 1,407
    6. Cadillac SLS: 612
    7. Buick Park Avenue: 144

    Hope this helps!
    cheers
    Matt
