Algeria March 2011: Renault Symbol leads, Kia Picanto #2
Outstanding month for new car sales in Algeria: the market is up 40% year-on-year in March at 25,971 registrations, and 35% year-to-date at 74,781. The Renault Symbol keeps the lead with 2,469 sales and 9.5%, and this month it is followed by the Kia Picanto and Peugeot 207, both at 1,525 sales and 5.9%.
Hyundai stays strong with the Atos in 4th place at 5.2% share and the Accent in 5th at 4.7%. The Dacia Logan has a weak month in 9th place at 2.3%, it is however #3 year-to-date with 3,306 sales and 4.4%. The Peugeot 308 slips into the Top 10 at 510 units and 2% share.

Algeria February 2011: Symbol #1, Duster in Top 10
Car sales are up 8% in Algeria in February at 18,733 registrations. The Renault Symbol stays on top at a pretty high 1,884 sales figure and 10.1% of the market. The Peugeot 207 has a strong month at #2 with 1,227 units (6.5%).
The Dacia Logan is down to 3rd at 1,134 sales (6.1%) but its big brother the Dacia Duster breaks into the Top 10 for the first time in Algeria with 429 units and 2.3% share.

Algeria January 2011: Symbol, Logan and Clio on podium
Euphoric start of the year for the Algerian car market, up 29% at 23,641 registrations. The Renault Group monopolises the podium: the Renault Symbol leads the way with 2,613 sales and 11.1% of the market, ahead of the Dacia Logan (6.7%) and the Renault Clio III at a very solid 4.5% share.
The Peugeot 207 is 4th (4.1%) followed by the Kia Picanto (3.7%). VW places two models in the Top 10: the Golf in 6th (2.8%) and the Polo in 9th (1.9%).

Algeria December 2010: Accent at 15%, Symbol #1 in Full Year
In spite of a good month of December at +9% (14,086 sales), Algerian car sales are down 3% in 2010 with 216,862 registrations. The Renault Symbol is the best selling car in Algeria again this year at 21,411 sales, just under 10% share, ahead of the Dacia Logan at 14,024 sales (6.5%).
Hyundai delivered a fantastic year, topped off with an out-of-this-world 34% share in December. Interestingly this is due to relatively old models: the Atos goes from #7 in 2009 to #3 this year at 12,037 sales (5.6%) and the Accent (old gen + Era) is #5 with 10,202 sales, including 2,174 in December: a 15% market share!

Algeria November 2010: Symbol #1, 207 #3 at 6.6%
Good month of November in Algeria, up 10% year-on-year with 14,578 registrations, the year-to-date figure is still down 6% however, at 202,180.
The Renault Symbol reclaims the first spot with an excellent 12.6% share (vs. 10.3% YTD), ahead of the Dacia Logan at a still very strong 8.5% (vs. 6.8% YTD). The Peugeot 207 is third with 6.6% of the Algerian market, a higher market share than in its native France!

Algeria October 2010: Logan edges Symbol out
In a stable Algerian market at 16,395 registrations, the Dacia Logan manages to grab the top spot this month with 1,373 sales (8.4%), only 5 units more than the Renault Symbol in #2. The Symbol however stays #1 in the Year-to-date ranking with 19,101 sales and 10.2% of the market.
Excellent performance of the 2003 Hyundai Atos, 3rd with 1,248 sales and 7.6%, ahead of the Peugeot 207 also in very good shape at 5.3% market share. The VW Golf new generation breaks into the Top 10 in 9th with 425 sales and 2.6%, it is 12th YTD at 1.6%.

Algeria January-September 2010: Symbol grabs 10%
Very strong month of September in Algeria at 17,686 registrations (+45% over 2009), whereas the year-to-date score is 171,207 sales, still down 8% over 2009.
The 2010 year-to-date model ranking sees the Renault Symbol grow 19% over last year to reach a very impressive 10.4% market share and stay #1 with 17,733 registrations. Also growing, the Dacia Logan is #2 with 12,384 registrations, including 1,304 MCV versions.
Following in the ranking, two old Hyundai models see their sales increase significantly over 2009: the 2003 Hyundai Atos grows 13% to 7,822 sales and 4.6% market share, and the 2000 Hyundai Accent (two generations ago) grows 10% to 6,889 registrations. An interesting trend that shows how Hyundai adapts its range to maximise sales in African markets.
Two French models follow: the Peugeot 207 is 5th with 6,835 units sold (+3%) and the Renault Clio III is 6th with 6,616 registrations (+32%).

Algeria 10 months 2009: Symbol, Alto and Logan dominate
During the first 10 months of 2009, three passenger cars clocked in more than 10,000 sales in Algeria: the Renault Symbol at 16,258, the Suzuki Alto at 11,096 and the Dacia Logan at 10,598.
The Chevrolet Aveo Sedan, leader of the market a couple of years ago, is now #4 at 8,743, ahead of the Peugeot 207 and two Hyundai veterans: the Accent (6,098) and Atos (6,092). The best selling Chinese model is the FAW Xiali at #36 with 736 sales.

Algeria 2007: Chevrolet Aveo triumphs
At 217,742 registrations, the Algerian car market is up a very healthy 16% in 2007. Only #5 last year, the Chevrolet Aveo is the best selling car in the country this year with 7.4% of the market and 16,071 units sold, 14,713 of which are Sedans.
The Toyota Hilux is up 59% at 13,655 sales (6.3%) but stays #2, ahead of the Hyundai Atos at 10,409 sales (+47%) and the Renault Clio Classic at 9,409 (+72%). Full Year Top 30 below.
Algeria 2006: Hyundai Accent in top spot
At 12,047 sales, the Hyundai Accent is a distant #1 this year, well ahead of the Toyota Hilux in #2 with 8,599 sales. Just below, the Dacia Logan jumps on the podium in 3rd with 8,557 units sold.
The Hyundai Atos drops 2 spots in 4th and the Chevrolet Aveo drops 1 in 5th. Great performance of the aging Maruti 800, gaining 9 spots in 6th with 6,285 sales. Full Year Top 20 below.
