December 1, 2010 Leave a comment

The Toyota Hilux comfortably leads the Panama car sales year-to-September 2010 with 1,925 registrations. However, looking at the Last 3 Months ranking (L3M), two new Korean SUVs are gearing up beautifully and could be a threat to the Toyota’s throne in 2011.

The Hyundai Tucson IX (aka ix35) is already #2 YTD with 1,257 sales, but with 536 sales in L3M it is very close to the Hilux (547). The Kia Sportage broke into the Top 10 recently and already ranks 6th YTD with 893 sales, of which approximately 500 should have occurred in L3M, positioning it in a very strong 3rd place.

October models figures are still to come but Hyundai announced that it had sold the most amount of cars in a single month by any brand, with 1,409 Hyundai’s sold in October 2010 in Panama (see illustration below).
