Netherlands February 2011: Renault Twingo best seller at 5.4% Discover the Top 75 best selling models

At 49,342 registrations, the Dutch car market is up a very healthy 31% year-on-year. Surprise on top, the Renault Twingo takes the lead at 2,640 sales (5.4%), with a comfortable margin over the VW Polo at 1,879 units sold (3.8%). The Twingo is exempt of road tax this year in the Netherlands, which explains the sudden sales boost.

The Opel Corsa climbs on the podium in 3rd, followed by the Peugeot 107 and a Skoda Fabia in very good shape at #5 with 1,441 sales (2.9%). Notice the Hyundai ix20 at #27 with 512 units (1% share).

    This is the current list of road tax free models (+ some other tax preferences) in The Netherlands: http://www.autoweek.nl/forum/read.php?28,4346992,4547762#msg-4547762
    Note that deliveries to customers of the MiTo, C3, DS3 and Clio road tax free diesels (with CO2 emissions of max. 95 g/km) and Lexus CT will start around this time. The Honda Jazz Hybrid, also a road tax free model because it emits only 105 g CO2 per km (the norm is 110 g/km for petrol cars), is available since this month which explains its good position.
